The Knockhall Centenary

1911 - 2011

This year Knockhall School celebrates its 100th birthday.  Our school first opened on the 1st September 1911 with 190 children on roll.  The headmaster was Mr. Alfred Tupman who led a team of four teachers.  In those days it was known as "Swanscombe Knockhall Council School."

Our special year has started with our centenary mosaic.  It is based on designs drawn by pupils.  It was actually made by a team of artists who worked with groups of children during a three day period in February.  It is located in the library area in school.  It was unveiled by one of our governors, Mrs.M.Bobby, who was assisted by her son and grandson - three generations of Knockhall pupils!

We are keen to hear from former pupils who may have memories to share of life at Knockhall.

Look at the 'Knockhall Centenary' tab for more photos of our centenary mosaic and news of special events during the rest of our centenary year.
